Obituary

James Craig "Jim" Cardin, of Dixon, was born on April 19, 1941, in Pulaski County, the son of William Doral and Mellie Sue (King) Cardin, and departed this life at 6:55 p.m., on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, after being diagnosed with pneumonia on March 15.  He had attained the age of  77 years, 11 months, and 1 day.

Jim was united in marriage on May 26, 1963, at Dixon, to the former Miss Janet Marie Boucher, and to this union, two daughters were born.

He was a member of the Dixon Church of Christ and the Brick Layer Union Local 15 in Jefferson City.  During his working life, Jim had worked in construction as a brick mason for forty years prior to his retirement in 2004 and was a livestock farmer as well.  Jim and Janet were also the owners and operators of Cardin's Fishing Lake where family and friends gathered to enjoy the annual hog roast which he really liked and looked forward to each year.  Jim also especially enjoyed fishing, Bluegrass music, cutting Cedar, and supporting all sports pertaining to the Dixon Bulldogs Athletic Program.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jim include:  His daughters, Miriam Hardesty and husband, Travis, of Eldon, and Melane Brown and husband, Ronnie, of Dixon; the Hardesty grandchildren, Janell Royer and husband, Keith, of Shawnee, Kansas, and their children, Avery, McKenna, Jamison, and Jadria Metcalf and husband, Travis, of Columbia, and their children, Ava, Harper, and Brynn, Korbin Hardesty and wife, Ashley, of Auxvasse, and their children, Cardin and Hunter, and Noah Hardesty of Eldon; the Brown grandchildren, Logan Brown and Briana Brown, both of Dixon, Curtis Schulz of St. James, Tucker Brown of Dixon, and Cale Sims of Kansas City, Kansas; many other relatives; and a host of friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, on August 14, 2014; his father, Doral, on October 3, 2008; his mother, Sue, on September 5, 2003; and his sisters, Carolyn Sue Cardin on October 23, 1987, and Peggy Sharon Waak Harrison on April 3, 2009.

Visitation for Mr. Jim Cardin will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in the Church of Christ, 12000 Highway 28, Dixon, Missouri  65459, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the Church with Mark White as the speaker.

Interment will be next to his beloved wife, Janet, in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.  Pallbearers will be Noah Hardesty, Logan Brown, Donnie Robertson, Boomer Purcell, Michael Earley, and Cale Sims, and honorary pallbearers will be Briana Brown, Korbin Hardesty, Keith Royer, Travis Metcalf, Janell Royer, Jadria Metcalf, Tucker Brown, and Curtis Schulz.

All in attendance are invited to a luncheon to be held in the lower level of the Church of Christ building following the cemetery service.
