James Orlando Dake, age 81, of Kansas City, formerly of Vienna and St. Charles, was born December 9, 1940, at Iberia, in Miller County, a son of Roscoe Viga and Bertha Mae (Lawson) Dake, and passed from this life Friday, July 22, 2022, in Benton House of Tiffany Springs, Kansas City.
He was united in marriage September 12, 1958, at Crocker, to the former Miss Donna Elizabeth Moore.
Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life and was baptized. He received his education at St. Anthony and St. Elizabeth. Following high school, Jim worked at various jobs around Iberia, Waynesville, and Fort Leonard Wood, before moving to St. Charles and being employed at Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Hazelwood for thirty-seven years prior to his retirement in 1999. He coached little league baseball with one of his boys becoming a St. Louis Cardinal.
Those left to celebrate the life of Jim include: One son, Korey Shane Dake (Dawn), Trimble; one daughter, Kristina Marie Dent (Mark Johnson), St. Charles; the mother of his children, Donna Dake, St. Charles; daughter-in-law, Lonnie Dake, Clearwater, Florida; one brother, Tommy Earl Dake (Janet), Redlands, California; and one sister, Gloria Jean Martin (David), Vienna; fifteen grandchildren, James II, Janna, Danielle, Brie, Lexie, Justin, Jessica, Jordyn, Sophia, Elizabeth, Chole, Allison, Taylor, Kameron, and Kyle; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zoey, Trey, Stella, Wren, Kenton, Carlie, McKenna, Anna Belle, Chase, Ethan, Jayden, Landon, and Charlotte; nephews, nieces, with greats and great-greats as well; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death in his immediate family by one daughter, Angelia Elizabeth Dake, March 5, 1989; one son, Kenton James Dake, October 2, 2020; infant grandson, Jack Dent, September 24, 2012; grandson, Dominic Dake, February 11, 1998; granddaughter, Mikayla Dake, May 10, 1999.
Jim was also preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe, April 11, 1983, and Bertha, December 20, 1940. They were married June 16, 1922, and on August 23, 1922, they joined Bray's Advent Christian Church, near Iberia, when brother G. W. Moore was minister.
Siblings who proceeded Jim in death were; infant Edith Wilma Dake, 1923; Evie Fay Dake, 1931; Lennie Agnes Wede, 2020, William Howard Dake, 2001, Lula Getrude Stephens, 2006, Gladys Thompson, 2012, Charlie Wayne "Charley" Dake, 2012, Effie Lorene Burkhauser, 2012, Donel Dean Nathan "Donald" Dake, 2021, Margie Bell Pendleton, 2011.
Visitation for Jim will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in the House of Elohim Church, 1920 North 4 th Street, St. Charles, MO 63301, with his funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. in the church with David Martin, Jr. officiating under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Interment for Jim will be next to his beloved daughter, Angelia, in St. Charles Memorial Gardens, St. Charles, with James Orlando Dake II, Justin Dent, James Orlando Dake III, Kyle Dake, Chase Utlaut, and John Dent serving as his pallbearers.
