James Steven "Jim" Gradel, 76, of Dixon, formerly of Freeburg, was born April 27, 1944, a son of Anton Christopher and Odelia Catherine (Haller) Gradel, and died at 8:08 p.m., on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in Phelps Health, Rolla. James had attained the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. James was a man of modest pleasures and enjoyed car rides, music, and McDonald's hamburgers.

Those left to mourn the passing of James include: two sisters, Betty Stratman, Westphalia, and Berniece Marie Gradel, Freeburg; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anton, on November 4, 1979; his mother, Odelia, on December 28, 1986; brother, Felix Gradel and one sister, Loretta Gradel.

Visitation for James will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his service following at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Debo officiating.

Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna, with relatives and friends serving as pallbearers.
