Obituary

James Edward Miller, Sr., of Brinktown, was born on April 29, 1944, at Black Oak, Arkansas, a son of James Henry and Roxie Elizabeth (Kelton) Miller, and departed this life at 2:50 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Mr. Miller had attained the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 10 days.
Mr. Miller was united in marriage on October 5, 1962, at Poplar Bluff, to Ruth Ann Matthews and to this union, three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on October 22, 2013; his parents; and one brother, Rocky Miller.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Christian faith and had been employed by General Motors Corporation, St. Louis, as a stationary engineer for 35 years, retiring in 1989, and moving to Maries County near Brinktown. He was a member of the Retired United Auto Workers Local No. 2250, Wentzville and enjoyed hunting, fishing and activities with his grandchildren and family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Miller include: two sons, Jimmy (Kris) Miller, Wentzville and Grant (Renee Scott) Miller, Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Lee Ann (Harvey) Lee, Vienna; two brothers, Phillip (Jeanette) Miller, Shreveport, Louisiana and Jerry (Anita) Miller, Poplar Bluff; one sister, Norma Buie, Springfield; six grandchildren, Douglas (Jessica) Wade, Beth Ann Lee, Kaedin Miller, Tayler Miller, Lexi Gordon and Aubrey Miller; two great-grandchildren, Sean Hensley and Tucker Wade; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation was held for Mr. Miller from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, and was followed by a graveside service and interment at 12:30 p.m., in the Miller Family Cemetery, Brinktown. Pallbearers for Mr. Miller were Jerry Miller, Terry Miller, Grant Miller, Jeremy Miller, Randy Bearden, Karl Lake, Lyle Skinner and Douglas Wade.
Memorial contributions, per the wishes of the family, are suggested with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
