Janice Ruth (Burnett) Hand, age 74, of Dixon, was born August 18, 1948, at Crocker, a daughter of Fred and Violet Alberta (Stities) Burnett, and passed from this life Monday, November 21, 2022, in Dixon Nursing and Rehab.

She attended church through the years and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized. During her working life, she had been employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections, Jefferson City, first as a Corrections Officer and later was promoted to the position of Probation and Parole Officer until her retirement in 2010.  Janice was an avid supporter of  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, and was diligent in sending a contribution to them each month. She enjoyed cooking, watching Jeopardy, going to casinos, and most of all, spending time with her grandkids.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Janice Hand include: one son, Jason Schaffner (Sue Ann), Dixon; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hand, Iberia; Haley Hand, Iberia; Jerica Keeth (Austin), Niangua; and John Schaffner, Dixon; three great-grandchildren, Kenneth Keeth, Cozette Gudgel, and Rayden Gudgel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred, in 1976; her mother Violet, in 1962; one son, Shane Allen Burnett-Hand, on April 22, 2012; two brothers, Freddie Ray Burnett, and Harold Burnett; two sisters, Louise Gilboy, and Imogene Stone.

Visitation for Mrs. Janice Hand will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, Friday, November 25, 2022,  in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 E. Third Street, Dixon, Mo 65459, with her funeral service following at 12 Noon in the funeral chapel, with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon officiating.

Interment for Mrs. Hand will be in Crocker Cemetery under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Janice will be John Schaffner, Jeremy Hand, Austin Keeth, Jerry Burnett, Eddie Fritchey, and Tanner Burnett, and her honorary pallbearers will be James Roland and Ricky Burnett.
