Jessie Lucille Dixon, of Jefferson City, formerly of Dixon, was born on August 27, 1928, at Junction City, Kansas, a daughter of Charles Christian and Lydia Elizabeth (Myer) Peterson and departed this life on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2017, in the SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City. Mrs. Dixon had been in failing health and had attained the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 19 days.
Mrs. Dixon was united in marriage on September 17, 1949, at Junction City, Kansas, to Mr. Donald Cates Dixon, and to this union, two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don on October 21, 1998; her father, Charles; her mother, Lydia; six brothers, Charles, Willard, Walter, Robert, Ralph and Edward; and four sisters, Ellen, Marion, Marguerite and Pearl.
Mrs. Dixon was baptized early in life and was a member of the Burnett Christian Church near Dixon. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Mrs. Dixon enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Dixon include: her son, Frederick "Fred" Dixon, of Dixon; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Woody Beal of Jefferson City; one granddaughter, Shawnee Claiborn-Pinto and her husband, Praveen of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Pinto and Katelyn Pinto of Austin, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
The way Mrs. Dixon lived and interacted with others was the best tribute anyone could have for their life. Fond and precious memories will always be remembered in the hearts of her dear family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
