Joan
Buschmann
Mar 29, 1935 — Apr 4, 2018
Dorothy "Joan" (Wulff) Buschmann, age 82, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
Mrs. Buschmann was born on March 29, 1935, to Victor and Pauline Wulff on a dairy farm in Argyle, Mo. When Joan was 14, her mother unexpectedly passed away, she left school to cook and care for her siblings as well as the workers on the farm. Later she would return to her one-room school house graduating with her class.
On October 18, 1958, Joan married the love of her life, Alvin Buschmann, and over the next 11 years, they were blessed with 6 children. After Alvin's sudden death and with the help of wonderful neighbors, she raised her children. A devout Catholic, she was a very active member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and School. She volunteered every chance she had, yet never missed her children's activities. When an opportunity arose to cook for events at 2nd Baptist Church, Joan accepted and the rest is history. She began cooking and catering weddings, funerals, and parties, which led to her founding 'As you Like It Catering'. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joan was determined to die doing what she loved the most. After collapsing at an event, Joan passed the following day. She would always say, one of her greatest blessings was the thousands of friends she made along the way.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Pauline (Boehm) Wulff; her husband, Alvin Buschmann, on September 7, 1969; her infant children, Shari Buschmann on July 16, 1959, Catherine Buschmann on October 9, 1960, and Melanie Buschmann, on December 18, 1968; her sister, Verna Oligschlaeger, on January 2, 2016. Since her demise, her brother, Ken Wulff, passed away on April 12, 2018, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Russell (Margaret) Buschmann, Mary Buschmann, Andrew Buschmann, Maura (David) Ziegler, Teresa "Missy" Buschmann, and Anthony Buschmann; her grandchildren, Russell, Alvin and Hannah Buschmann, Christa (Robyn) Tweedy, David J., Austin, Caroline and Ryan Ziegler, Travis and JoAnna Buschmann, Brent (Kaylee) and Mary Jane Buschmann; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Buschmann, Harper Tweedy and Adalynn Buschmann; her brothers Robert Wulff, Don (Gloria) Brunnert, her sister Norma Hughes; her brother-in-law Jim Oligschlaeger, and sister-in-law Rita Wulff; her favorite dog, Daisy; numerous nieces, nephews, and thousands of friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Joan Buschmann will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until a Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 16, 2018, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, then with a funeral procession to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery, Highway 42 West, Vienna, Missouri 65582, for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating. Joan stayed true to her spirit of giving by donating her body to science with cremation following.
