John Talbot Anderson, age 92, of Westphalia, formerly of Vienna and Chamois, was born October 16, 1928, at Waynesville, a son of Tobie Everett and Millie Missouri (Carter) Anderson, and passed from this life, Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage May 26, 1951, at Van Buren, Arkansas, to the former Miss Bonnie Ethel Frey.

On January 9, 1951, at St Louis, John entered active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until December 31, 1952, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.  A man of excellent character, John's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country during the Korean Conflict.

John was a member of the Baptist faith.  He was a member and Past Master of Chamois Lodge No. 185, A.F. & A.M.; and was a life member of the Coffey Brothers Memorial American Legion Post No. 12, Vienna.  During his working life, he was employed with the Missouri Highway Department, first at Waynesville from 1945 to 1947 for 2 years, then at Vienna from 1948 to 1966 for 18 years, then at Chamois for 25 years and being promoted to Maintenance Supervisor for District 5, and then retiring with 45 years of service on November 1, 1990.  After retirement and both he and his wife being avid Bluegrass Music fans, John and Bonnie followed the Bluegrass Festival Circuit for over 15 years.

Those left to mourn the passing of John include:  His wife of seventy years, Bonnie, of their home in Westphalia; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Jean Anderson (1-23-1953) at age of 25 months; his son, Charles J. Anderson (7-1-2014); his father, Tobie Anderson; his mother, Millie Anderson; 2 brothers, George Anderson (9-26-2006), and Everett Anderson (2005); and 2 sisters, Ethel Bowling (1987), and Lucy McShane (2009).

Private funeral services for Mr. John T. Anderson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with the Rev. Christopher Cook, pastor of Parkade Baptist Church, Columbia, officiating.

Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.  Pallbearers for John will be Masonic Brothers from Chamois Lodge No. 185, A.F. & A.M.
