John Arendal "Skip" Goforth, of Dixon, was born on November 3, 1950, at Waynesville, a son of Ralph Woodrow and Evelyn Alice (Scott) Goforth, and departed this life at 10:35 a.m., on Sunday, October 4, 2020, in Life Care of Waynesville. He had attained the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 1 day.
Skip received his elementary education in Dixon and was a 1968 graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, where he had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and had followed his Lord in baptism at an early age. Skip had been a member of the Moonspinners band along with Arnold Prewett, Larry Wyss, and Don Bowman, and he was a talented musician being the drummer for the band.
Following his graduation from high school, Skip worked at an audio production company in Kansas City and later at a television station in Columbia. In the late 1970's, he became employed in radio at KFBD and KJPW in St. Robert and was employed in radio work as long as his health permitted.
Those left to mourn the passing of Skip include: One brother, Scott Goforth, of Dixon; nephews; nieces; several cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, on April 23, 1973; his mother, Evelyn, on October 21, 1985; and one infant brother, Skyler "Sky" Goforth, in 1943.
Visitation for Mr. John A. "Skip" Goforth will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Friday, October 9, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, followed by his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Todd Holman officiating.
Interment will be next to his beloved parents in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers for Skip.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. John A. "Skip" Goforth are suggested by his family to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
