Obituary

John Canfield Corbin, age 83, of Dixon, was born on November 3, 1939, at Hartford, Connecticut, a son of Ewart St. Aubyn Alleye and Jean (Canfield) Corbin, and passed from this life on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

He was united in marriage November 1, 1963, at Pomona, California, to the former Miss Donna Cecile Hern.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church, Dixon, and had dule citizenships in the United States, Barbados, and Great Britain.   He was a 1948 graduate of Sherman High School, New York, and later received his engineering degree.  John was a professor at Oklahoma State University, and later worked at Wal Mart, and as a janitor in all three schools of the Dixon R-1 School system.  Early in his life he enjoyed traveling and had visited 44 of the 50 states, as well as England and Barbados.  John enjoyed yardwork, refurbishing H/O scale trains, and was a history buff.

Those left to celebrate the life of John include: his wife of 59 years, Donna, Dixon; three sons, Michael Corbin and wife, Viola, White City, Oregon; Scott Corbin and wife, Tonya, Dixon; and Christopher Corbin, San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Angelique James and husband, Richard, Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Louis Joy, Phoenix, Arizona; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was proceeded in death by two sons, Patrick Corbin on July 4, 2019; and Steven Corbin on December 21, 2021, and his wife Jackie on December 26, 2021; his father, Ewart, his mother, Jean; and one sister, Patricia Joy.

A Memorial service will be held for Mr. John Corbin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, in the United Methodist Church, Dixon, with Pastor Mitch Henson officiating, with arrangements under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
