John Alvin Jones, age 86, of Vienna, was born January 25, 1936, at St. Louis City, a son of Alvin R. and Bernadine (Lewis) Jones, and passed from this life Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Westphalia Hills Nursing Home, Westphalia.

He was married March 9, 1959, to the former Miss Sonya M. Solak, at St. Louis and to this union, four children were born.

John entered active federal service in the United States Army in 1957, and served until he was honorably discharged in 1963.

After graduating from the police academy, John, was employed with the St. Louis City Police Department until he retired after twenty-five years. He enjoyed being on the farm, hunting, fishing, horses, and was a farrier for twenty years. John's family would joke with him saying that his farm was a retirement home for horses.

Those left to mourn the passing of John include: his four children, Mark Jones and wife Lee, of Foristell, Joseph Jones and wife Jennifer, of O'Fallon, Karen Campbell and husband Tom, of Vienna, and Michelle Davidson and husband Chris, of Troy; six grandchildren, John Campbell and wife Ashley, Steven Campbell and wife Sara, Brain Jones and fiancé Raegen, Adam Jones and wife, Rebecca, Alyson Jones, and Miller Jones; nine great-grandchildren, Addison, Molly, Savannah, Aubree, Matthew, Maci, Graci, Lyla, and Alli Grace; and many other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Sonya, March 19, 2013; his father, Alvin, March 12, 1987; his mother, Bernadine, April 19, 1991; his brother, Mike, in 2020.

The family will be hosting a private memorial service and inurnment at the family farm near the lake at a later date.
