John Richard Logan, age 77, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, was born June 20, 1946, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Newton and Martha (Potter) Logan, and passed from this life on Monday, January 1, 2024.
He was united in marriage on October 1, 2003, at Union, to Betty Ann Kincade.
John served in the United States Army retiring after twenty-five years. He was awarded and intitled to wear the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal-3D, National Defense Service Medal-2D, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Competition Badge-Bronze-Rifle, and the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge M-16 Rifle. A man of excellent character, John's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country. John was an avid fisherman and a passionate knife collector.
Those left to mourn the passing of John include: his wife, Betty Logan, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; his daughter, Leah Ann Wilson (Chester), St. Clair; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Malea, and William; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Oliver, Paisley, and Sydney; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tracy Edward Bowers; father, Newton; and mother, Martha.
John's family and friends will gather at a later occasion to remember his life at a service of remembrance.
