John Earl Young, of Vienna, formerly of Indiana, was born July 19, 1930, at Marceline, Missouri a son of Edna (Fawks) Young, and departed this life at 9:09 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at his residence near Vienna.  Mr. Young had attained the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

Mr. Young was united in marriage on April 15, 1954, at Columbia, Missouri to Nellie Lucille Henderson, and to this union, four children were born.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran, had played trombone in a big band, was a past member of the American Legion in Indiana, enjoyed garden-scale model trains, 3-D printing, and computer programing.  During his life he was a long time member of the Illiana Antique Power Association, was a Chemistry Professor at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana; and owned and operated several family businesses.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Young include: His son, Randall Young, and wife, Mei, Lakewood, California; daughter, Janice Morgan, and husband, Chuck, Vienna; grandchild, Nicole Delk; great-grandchildren, Helen, Serenity, and Luke; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Joann Young and Joy Young; and his mother, Edna Scurlock.

Visitation for Mr. Young will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., also in the funeral home, with the Rev. Lynn Quist, Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
