Obituary

Johnny Steven Aaron, of Dixon, was born on August 31, 1938, near Dixon in Pulaski County, a son of John Wesley and Dora Ellen (Crane) Aaron, and departed this life at 7:47 a.m., on Monday morning, January 18, 2016, at his residence near Dixon. Johnny had attained the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

Johnny was united in marriage on August 6, 1981, at Dixon to Brenda Gay Alexander. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Sue "Debby" (Aaron) Nelson on March 20, 2005; his father, John, on March 17, 1980; his mother, Dora, on February 1, 1980; two brothers, Dale Joseph Aaron in 1941 at the age of 17; Howard Aaron in 1920; four sisters, Vivian Murry in 2012; Lois Joann Null in 2011; June Hoffman in 2004; and Billie Elizabeth Thurston in 1990.

Johnny was a member of the Church of Christ, Dixon; the Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 346 AF and AM, Dixon; and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters No. 688, St. Louis. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran where he attained the rank of Sergeant. A man of excellent character, Johnny's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

During his working life Johnny was a truck driver for over 40 years, driving over 4 million miles prior to his retirement. He had driven for General Cable Company, St. Louis, and later was the owner and operator of his own truck, driving for both FAB Trucking, Jefferson City, and EC York Trucking, Dixon. Johnny enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers, being out of doors, auto restoration, and was an avid NASCAR Fan.

Those left to mourn the passing of Johnny include: His wife, Brenda Aaron of the home near Dixon; his children, Mike Dale Aaron, Dixon; Gay Lynn Warman and companion, Paul, Dixon; John Steven Aaron and companion, Jodie, Rolla; April Almeda-Nicole Dawson and husband, Matthew, Hollister; son-in-law, Herb Nelson, Dixon; three sisters, Jeanette Noakes, Springfield; Patsy Bryant and husband, Marion, Dixon; and Jill Forthman, Dixon; fourteen grandchildren, Danielle Jones, Aaron Jones, Justin Jones and wife, Kimberly, John Nelson, Alex Nelson, Nathan Warman, Jessica Lane, Jessica Aaron, Jennifer Herman and husband, Ryan, Johnny Aaron, Ava DiDonato, Myrinda Norlin and husband, Michael, Tristan Dawson, and Maudie Dawson; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Interment with full military honors was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers were Dariel Alexander, Don Gann, Harold Campbell, Danny Baker, Herb Nelson, and Paul Sinden. Honorary pallbearers were Justin Shelton, Matthew Dawson, Dale Saunchegrow, Junior Anderson, Ronnie Rollins, Sr., Bob Overshon, Bruce Barnhart, Floyd Billingsley, Larry Foxworthy, and Jay Kelley.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the Church or the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
