Obituary

Jon Lyndon Ray, age 56, of Dixon, was born November 30, 1964, at Houston, Missouri, the son of, Paul Lionel and Roma Lea (Jones) Ray, and passed from this life at 3:29 p.m., on Tuesday August 3, 2021, in SSM Health, St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage October 19, 1985, at Dixon, to the former Miss Keri Danell Virgin.

Jon accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and followed Him in baptism on July 29, 1984, and at the time of his passing he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon.

Jon was a 1983 graduate of the Dixon R1 High School and was a lifelong farmer in the Dixon area. Some of his main interests were farming, cattle, sports, and his family. He especially enjoyed attending basketball games and events involving his children and grandchildren. Jon coached many generations of youth basketball within the Dixon community. If he wasn't working to provide for his family, you could find him at church, the cattle sale barn, or a gym.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jon include: His children, Kayla Ray, and Logan Ray and wife, Kayla, all of Dixon; Kelsey Sadler and husband, Chris, Columbia; grandchildren, Khloe Irvin, Kamden Ray, and Kade Ray, all of Dixon; sisters, Paula Ray, Dixon and his twin, Jill Klein, Purdy; his mother-in-law, Marlene Johnson, Dixon; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-five years, Keri, on July 28, 2021; his father, Paul, on June 29, 2016; and his mother, Roma, on August 26, 2020.

Masks or personal protective equipment, as well as, social distancing and close contact guidelines are suggested for those attending the visitation or funeral service.

Visitation for Jon will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., all in the First Baptist Church, 400 West Fourth Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Bro. Rocky Carroll and Pastor Jack Caple officiating.

Interment will be next to his beloved wife in the Fox Crossing Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Jon Ray are suggested by his family to the First Baptist Church Nursery Fund or the Dixon Youth Basketball Club, with envelopes available at First Baptist Church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
