Joseph Harold
Coleman, Sr.
May 17, 1939 — Aug 18, 2020
Joseph Harold Coleman, Sr., of Holts Summit, was born on May 17, 1939, at Old Mines, Washington County, Missouri, a son of Lester Joseph and Evelyn Lorraine (Luther) Coleman, and departed this life at 6:47 p.m., on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City. He had attained the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 1 day.
Joe was united in marriage on October 21, 1967, at DeSoto, Missouri, to the former Miss Ruth Ann Livengood, and to this union, two children were born.
During his working life, he had been employed by the Hamilton Shoe Company in DeSoto for thirty-one years prior to his retirement. Joe was a good-natured individual, who enjoyed joking, teasing, and just giving people "a hard time" in general.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Coleman include: His loving and devoted wife of almost fifty-three years, Ruth Coleman, of the home in Holts Summit; his two children, Joseph Coleman, Jr. and wife, Lora, of Tebbetts, and Dorothy "Dot" Holtmeyer and husband, Jeff, of St. Anthony; his five grandchildren, Zachary Coleman, Dylan Coleman, Olivia Coleman, Grant Holtmeyer, and Riley Holtmeyer; one brother, Tony Coleman, of Wentzville; two sisters, Betty Logsden of Potosi, and Kitty Byrum of Farmington; one sister-in-law, Nancy Coleman, of House Springs; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester; his mother, Evelyn; and one brother, Tim Coleman.
The way Mr. Joseph Harold Coleman, Sr. lived his life and interacted with others are two of the best tributes anyone could have for their life. Mr. Coleman's family and friends will gather at a later occasion to reflect his life at a service of remembrance to be announced by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Fond and precious memories will always be in the hearts of his dear family and all who knew and loved him.
Arrangements are by the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna with correspondence to the family in memory of Mr. Joseph Harold Coleman, Sr. in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
