Joseph "Joe" Frank Luebbert, age 74, of Argyle, passed away in the home he shared with his special friend and long-time companion, Barbara Schmitz, Thursday morning, December 24, 2015 with his children by his side.
Joe was born on May 1, 1941 in Koeltztown, Missouri, a son of William "Bill" Luebbert and Louisa (Maasen) Luebbert.
Joe attended Flat Top School and graduated from Vienna High School.
He had a variety of jobs until he found what he liked doing working for Union Pacific Railroad for 25 years.
Joe was married on June 28, 1969 to Judy Holtschneider until 1976 and still remain friends. They had 3 children together.
He loved driving slowly through the countryside, hunting, playing cards, riding his 4 wheeler, relaxing on the porch, watching the wildlife, and just being outdoors.
Joe was extremely patient and compassionate. He did whatever he could to help others. He had a great sense of humor and he always had a story or comment to put a smile on your face.
Joe enjoyed the simple things in life and took the time to notice what most people miss. He enjoyed life!
Joe was a strong man and a fighter. In the last 5 tough years of illness he defied all odds against him and amazed the Doctors, Nurses, and everyone on how great his attitude was and how he faced every obstacle and surgery with courage and strength.
Survivors include: His children, Joe (Anne) Luebbert of Sedalia, Jim Luebbert of Westphalia, and Jenny Luebbert of Rich Fountain; his special friend, Barbara Schmitz of Argyle; his grandchildren, Evan and Jorey Luebbert; and three additional grandchildren not by blood but by love, the daughters and son of Harold Jr. and Amanda Stratman, Alese, Harrison, and Aliza all of who he loved dearly; three brothers, Emil Luebbert of Vienna, Fred (Eileen) Luebbert of Koeltztown, Art Luebbert of Taos; three sisters, Willie (Virgil) Borgmeyer of Osage Bend, Betty (Arthur) Lederman of Mansfield, Texas, and Cathy (Jerry) Luebbert of Taos; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill, on October 5, 1981; his mother, Louisa, on August 19, 1983; one brother, Bernard Clarence Luebbert, on October 12, 2011; one sister-in-law, June Louise Luebbert, on August 19, 1984; two nephews, Russell Lee Luebbert on March 25, 1978, and Ricky Kevin Luebbert on November 9, 2007, and one niece, Sandy Ann Luebbert on March 16, 1977.
Visitation for Joe will be in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Monday, December 28, 2015, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. James Finder leading, and will continue in the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, prior to the funeral Mass.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle, with the Rev. James Finder as the Celebrant.
Interment was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, Dialysis Clinic (Boggs Creek Road), Masses, or the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church or at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes at 406 South Main Street.
