Obituary

Joyce Ann Fritchey, age 83, of Columbia, was born in Virginia, on April 14, 1942, a daughter of James "Doc" and Cora Grizzle and passed from this life on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia.

Joyce was united in marriage in Virginia to Carl Guy Fritchey, and to this union, two children were born.

She was a devoted wife and homemaker and was always diligent in taking care of her family's needs. Joyce enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafting and fishing, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to mourn the passing of Joyce include: two children, Tracey Fritchey (Christina), Ashland, and Jeanne Coleman (Rocky), Fulton; two brothers, James Grizzle and Johnny Grizzle, both of Virginia; one sister, Jewell Contrachick of Virginia; five grandchildren, Megan Berhorst (Josh), Tawnie Vandeloecht (Lucas), Cole Fritchey, Grant Fritchey, and Austin Bruns; one great granddaughter, Allie Vandeloecht and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl, on March 14, 2006; her father, her mother, her brother, Dewey Grizzle; and three sisters, Judy York, Barbara Grizzle, and JoAnn Grizzle.

In following Joyce's wishes, the family elected a private funeral service on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Kenner Church, 17996 Maries Road 505, Dixon, Missouri 65459, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with Bro. J.D. Fritchey, officiating.

Interment was in the Kenner Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Joyce A. Fritchey are suggested by the family to the American Diabetes Foundation with envelopes available on the day of her service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
