Junior Ralph Jones, of Dixon, was born February 27, 1929 near Dixon, a son of Clay and Mayme (Nichols) Jones, departed this life and began his new life in Heaven at 9:37 pm, on Saturday, Aug 3, 2019. Junior had attained the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, on January 28, 2009; his mother, on February 21, 1934, his father, on August 26, 1977, his son-in-law, Freddy McKinnon, in May 2005, and his sister, Dorothy Jones, in June 2015.
Junior was united in marriage on December 24, 1950, in Harrison, Arkansas, to the former Miss Sally Lou Casey, and to this union, three children, Kitsy, Mark, and Penny were born.
Junior was a member of Gasconade Baptist Church and was baptized in Jones Creek, in June 1965.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 8 January 1951 until he was honorably discharged on 31 December 1952, at Ft Jackson, South Carolina, at the rank of Private First Class.
Junior was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason at Crane Lodge #519 A.F. & A.M. in 1965, & transferred to Arlington Lodge #346 A.F.&A.M in Dixon, and went on to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32 nd degree, in St Louis Mo.
Junior was a certified deputy sheriff in Pulaski County from 1976 to 2014. He also served as a member of the Dixon School Board from 1970 to 1979, & 1981 to 1982, and served as president for two years.
He worked on road construction as a heavy equipment operator for 12 years, during this time, he was involved in building Interstate 44 from Rolla to Joplin. He also worked for the Department of the Army in Roads and Grounds and the Carpenter shop for twenty-five years. He raised beef cattle and farmed from 1956 to 2017. J.R. enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and raising tomatoes in the summer.
Junior was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grand Father. He is survived by one son and his wife, Mark Wesley and Jamie Jones of Dixon; two daughters, Kitsy Jane McKinnon of Dixon, and Penny Lou and husband, Rick Sisco of Dixon; eight grandchildren, Casey, Aleesha, and Jacob McKinnon, Jack Sisco, Jeremy and Joshua Jones, Chelsey Jones Doyle, and Chance Jones; three bonus grandchildren, Elizabeth Ray, Richard Sisco Jr., and Kaylan John Sisco; seventeen great-grandchildren, Makayla, Raylee, and Isaiah McKinnon, Owen McKinnon, Wesley and Sally Jones, Jackson Jones, Rhett and Lottie Doyle; eight bonus great grandchildren, Kyra Henderson, Chance and Hayley Ray, Bailey and Braden Sisco, and K. J. Finn, and Nolan Sisco; one bonus great-great-grandchild, Eko Nesta Ray.
Junior is also survived by his brother, Norman Dempsey Jones and wife, Naomi, of Belle; his sisters, Ruth Allee, of Sleeper; and Helen Cartwright, of Anchorage, Alaska.
Visitation for Junior will be held from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service following at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 8, 2019, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Birmingham Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
Interment with full military honors will be in the Sheppard Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
