Karen Lynn Sankey, age 76, of Argyle, was born October 24, 1947, in the state of Illinois, a daughter of Kenneth Winston and Katherine Marie (Nye) Eastman, and passed from this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was married April 30, 1994, to David Gregory Sankey.
During her working life, Karen was a Financial Aide Counselor at Lincoln University, Jefferson City, and Linn State Technical College, retiring after 30 years. She went on to work for Farm Bureau as a secretary for six years after retirement.
Karen loved being outdoors, whether she was riding horses or farming. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, caring for her animals, and especially spending time with her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Karen include: her husband, David, of their home near Argyle; two sons, Johnny Stein of the state of California, and Paul Wieberg of Columbia; two daughters, Lynne Brandt of Vienna, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Watring (Greg) of Argyle; eight grandchildren, Ethan Brandt, Clayton Brandt, Delaney Brandt, Hanna Huhn, Dylan Huhn, Mason Huhn, Milla Stein, and Niccola Stein; one brother, Keith W. Eastman (Linda) of Bensenville, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth and Katherine Eastman; a brother Ronald E. Milton; her father and mother-in-law, Gregory and Margaret Sankey; and one brother-in-law, Keith Sankey.
Visitation for Karen will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 3982 Highway T, Koeltztown, MO 65048, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the church under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Interment for Karen will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Koeltztown. Pallbearers for Karen will be Dylan Huhn, Ethan Brandt, Clayton Brandt, Paul Wieberg, Zachary Sankey, and Matt Jones. Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Karen Sankey will be Mason Huhn, Johnny Stein, and Glenn Sankey.
Memorial contributions in memory of Karen are suggested by her family for the St. Boniface Perpetual Care with envelopes available at St. Boniface Church the day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
