Mr. Kevin Dale McCormack of Vichy, Missouri came into this world on September the 18th of 1956, in Richmond Heights, St. Louis. He was the youngest of 6 sons born to Eunamae Myrtle Davis & Fredrick James McCormack. He achieved the age of 66 years old before passing away after a short battle with lung cancer. Kevin left this world at his ancestral residence on Presidents' Day - Monday, February 20, 2023 - after being surrounded by his loved ones over the weekend.
Kev spent his childhood residing in Vinita Park before moving with his family to "The Farm", near the Gasconade River in Maries County. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and foraging for mushrooms & arrowheads. Kevin was close to his brothers: Danny, Tim, Jerry, Freddie & Mike: "The McCormack Boys''. He graduated from school in Vienna with The Class of 1975. He always enjoyed attending class reunions to catch up with his classmates & reminisce about the good old days.
Mr. Kevin D. McCormack was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Miss Karen Kay Weider, at her family home near Dixon during the beginning of May in 1977. They made their home in Paradise Valley, Vichy and raised their 3 children there. The two of them always had a large garden, a plethora of pets, and a great deal of visitors. The couple hosted large celebrations and intimate get-togethers on a regular basis.
Kevin was a hard worker and skilled craftsman. He was a member of the St. Louis Carpenters Union and specialized in installing flooring, frequently working for Wilber's Floor Covering out of Jefferson City. A portion of his career was spent traveling out of state to work at large construction sites, sometimes for months at a time. Kevin helped build malls, hospitals, college dorms and courthouses all over the country, but especially in Mid-Mo. He was often self-employed, laboring alongside his father & brothers as a brick mason, as well as laying custom ceramic tile residentially for a living.
Kevin loved to brew homemade wine to share with guests. He enjoyed cooking for family & friends, frequently barbequing on the grill or making deer jerky. He collected black powder rifles, crafted with leather & antlers, and liked reading in the morning with a cup of coffee & a cigarette. Music was an important part of Kev's life; you would rarely find him far from a radio. He truly lived his life to the fullest!
Those left to mourn the passing of Kevin McCormack include: 3 daughters - Lori Kay, Lacy Dae & Leah Rae McCormack; 1 step-daughter - Myka-Leigh Jae (Bryan) Cook; 9 grandchildren - Amara, Amasa, Eljayan, Brianna, Mason, Calyssa, Kalena, Raiden & Cary-Kay; 5 bonus grandkids - Henry, Alexys, Michael, Emmalee & Trenton; 1 great-grandchild - Olivia-Jane; and 3 brothers - Michael David (Jo Ann), Jerald Dennis (Sandy), and Timothy Dean (Tonia) McCormack. He will be missed by many other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Eunamae in 2003, wife Karen in 2005, father, Fred in 2007, granddaughter Adara Leigh McCormack in 2016, and 2 of his brothers - Fredrick Davis McCormack in 2021 & Daniel Dean (Brenda) McCormack in 2022. They are loved & missed greatly, but we find comfort in them all being together now.
Kevin was Christened into the Catholic Faith upon birth; he went to Mass regularly as a child and even Parochial school at one point. He could be found attending services at several local Protestant churches with his young family, especially Broadway Baptist. Kevin was active in the Cowboy Church & Agape later in life. Jesus was a friend of his!
Kevin McCormack generously gifted his earthly body to The University of Columbia's School of Medicine. He very much wished to make a positive impact on the advancement of medical treatments and the training of physicians. His donated remains will be cremated and returned to his family after helping to further educational & scientific research.
Mr. McCormack's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life memorial service & reception, to be held at his home near Vichy at a later date. Monetary contributions in memory of Kevin are suggested to The Kevin McC Cancer Care Campaign at: www.fundly.com/kevin-mcc-cancer-care-campaign-1 . Online condolences may be shared with the family of Mr. Kevin McCormack at: www.birminghammartinfuneralhomes.com .
