Obituary

Lanny Ross Terry, age 85, of Rolla, was born August 19, 1939, a son of Lloyd Austin and Venice Virginia (Clayton) Terry, and passed from this life on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his residence in Rolla.

He was united in marriage on February 12, 1962, in Yokohama, Japan, to the former Miss Kazuko Tsukada.

On August 24, 1956, at St. Louis, Lanny entered active federal service in the United States Navy and served until July 30, 1962, when he was honorably discharged at San Francisco, California, at the rank of Petty Officer Second Class.  A man of excellent character, Lanny's Honorable Discharge is a testimony of selfless and faithful service to his country.

Lanny continued his working career after his honorable discharge as a lumber dealer working for Fremont Lumber Company, Fremont, California, retiring in 1996, after 27 years and moving back to Rolla.

Those left to mourn the passing of Lanny include: his wife of 63 years, Kazuko, of the home in Rolla; his siblings, Michael Terry (Eleanor) and Mitchell Terry (Sheila) all of Vienna; brother-in-law, Jerry Boyce, Branson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd on July 4, 2017; his mother, Venice on June 7, 1997; his step-mother, Thelma Louise (Bailey) Cook Terry on January 19, 2000; sister Marilyn Boyce; step-brothers, Danny Cook, Billy Cook, and Donnie Cook; and step-sisters, Dorothy Cox, Mary Snethern, and Teresa Happle.

Visitation for Lanny will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon Monday, February 24, 2025, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582

Interment with full military honors for Mr. Lanny Ross Terry will be held in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Terry, Michael Terry, Eddie Husted, Mike Terry, Tom Boyce, and Bob Boyce.  All arrangements are under the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
