Larry Allen Hardeman, of Sunrise Beach, formerly of Dixon, was born May 7, 1947, in Dixon, the son of Allen L. and Vera Mae (Mitchell) Hardeman, and departed this life at 7:53 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in NHC Osage Beach Rehab & Health Care Center, Osage Beach. He had attained the age 73 years, 8 months, and 26days.
Larry was united in marriage on February 3, 1989, in Tucson, Arizona, to Marilyn Ruth (Goodwin) Anthony.
He grew up in Dixon and was a 1965 graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School. Larry was inducted into the United States Army February 27, 1968, at St. Louis, and after receiving his training, served a tour of duty in South Vietnam as a member of the 101 st Airborne Division's "Screaming Eagles" based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He continued to serve until January 20, 1970, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington, at the rank of Sergeant E-5. His "Honorable Discharge" is a testimony of honest and faithful service to his country during the Vietnam War.
During his working life, Larry became a United States Marshal in December of 1975 and was in their service until his retirement January 3, 1998. After moving to Sunrise Beach, he became a member of the
Crocker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4956 and was active in supporting the United States Marshals Service Association.
Those left to mourn the passing of Larry include: His wife, Marilyn, of the home in Sunrise Beach; one son, Shawn Allen Hardeman (Kali), Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Carey Leigh Dingman (Adam), Keller, Texas; seven grandchildren, Zachary Visio, Andrew Lucero, Taylor Emerson, Taryn Dingman, Riley Visio, Kalden Cay Hardeman, and Kolbe Dingman; two great-grandchildren, Vera Kay Visio and Charlotte Rose Emerson; other relatives and friends; and "Fog", his pet dog.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cydney Elaine Visio, on November 22, 2006; his father, Allen, on October 10, 1971; his mother, Vera, on November 16, 2006; and his step-father, Herbert Runer, on November 30, 2008.
Visitation for Mr. Larry Allen Hardeman will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in the Dixon Cemetery, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside with Rev. Jack Caple officiation, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
Interment with full Military honors will be in the Dixon Cemetery, with Zachary Visio, Andrew Lucero, Riley Visio, Kalden Cay Hardeman, Kolbe Dingman, Bennie Waldron, Jr., Ernie Rollins and Danny Rollins as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Larry Allen Hardeman are suggested by his family to the United States Marshals Museum, 789 Riverfront Drive, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901, or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
