Larry Allen Murphy, age 76, of Dixon, was born August 6, 1945, ay Mount Vernon, a son of, William Clifton "Pat" and Maxine (Roper) Murphy, and passed from this life at 4:20 p.m., on Friday, August 6, 2021, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia.
Larry accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior on June 4, 2021, and at the time of his passing was attending the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, near Dixon. He was a graduate of the Dixon R-1 high school and had served in the Missouri National Guard from 1965 until 1969. His grandparents, William and Mamie (Tayloe) Murphy were the founder of the Tringale Phone Company (now known as Windstream) where he began working early in life and later became a lineman prior to his retirement. Larry loved cars, horses, and especially his family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Larry include: His wife, Diane Murphy, Dixon; children, Rhonda Stewart, and William Allen "Billy" Murphy, both of Colonial Heights, Virginia; Michael Shawn Murphy, Andover, Minnesota; and Matthew Scott Murphy, Kansas City; brother, Frankie Lee "Tuffy" Morris, Columbia; sister, Joan Smith, Franklin, Tennessee; grandchildren, Danial Robert Stewart, Raegan Marie Murphy, and Reed Matthew Murphy; and great grandson, Kaiden Robert Stewart; special friend, Linda Davis, near Dixon; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pat, on September 19, 2005; his mother, Maxine; step-mother, Dorothy (State) Murphy, on November 10, 2004; and two sisters, Lou Nan "Corky" Coglizer, in December of 2009, and Jean Hoerschgan, in March of 2020.
Visitation for Larry will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, near Dixon, with Sister Helen Winters officiating.
Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Larry A. Murphy are suggested by his family to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project, with envelopes at the church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
