Obituary

Lawrence Casper Kampeter, of Argyle, was born on August 20, 1923, at Argyle, a son of Edward Joseph and Josephine Frances (Reinkemeyer) Kampeter, and departed this life at 7:50 p.m., on Thursday evening, December 10, 2015, in Westphalia Hills. He had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

Mr. Kampeter was united in marriage on September 26, 1945, at Argyle, to the former Miss Rita Ann Hilke. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, on August 11, 1981; his mother, Josephine, on January 27, 1998; and a great-granddaughter, Addyson Elaine Keeler.

The following was written by Mr. Kampeter – Lawrence Casper Kampeter was drafted and served in the Army from 12-5-44 to 9-13-46 with the 43rd Division in WW2 in Munich Germany. He was a farmer all his life in Argyle, MO. He was a VFW member of the Argyle Charter 8045 since 1946. He was Commander for many years of the Argyle VFW. He was a member of the Argyle St. Aloysius Church and member of the church choir. He served as president of the Argyle Fire Department, was a 4H leader, member of the church council, Argyle MFA Board member, worked at the MFA pig barn auction, he also served as a board member of the MFA Livestock. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was also Grand Knight for many years. He was also a member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the EMT for Maries County and served as a board member of the EMT. He was a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 17 in Jefferson City, MO. He also served on the Soil and Water Board. Lawrence loved to fish and loved to work with his red International tractor and take care of his Hereford cows.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Kampeter include: His wife of over 70 years, Rita Kampeter, of the home near Argyle; his children, Larry Kampeter and wife, Mary, of Vienna, Margie Trippensee and husband, Mark, of Jefferson City, James Kampeter and wife, Jean, of Argyle, and Irene Holtschneider and husband, Charles, of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren, Jason Kampeter and wife, Brandy, of Vienna, Jeremy Kampeter and wife, Stephanie, of Jefferson City, Bruce Kampeter and wife, Melissa, of Westphalia, Craig Kampeter and wife, Leann, of Westphalia, Stacey Dawson and husband, Rick, of Argyle, Jill Serrano and husband, Matt, of Olathe, Kansas, Bridgett Beck and husband, Kent, of Jefferson City, Trina Keeler and husband, Doug, of Holts Summit, and Lucas Holtschneider of Jefferson City; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Kampeter and wife, Freda, of Argyle, and Gary Kampeter and wife, Lori, of Jefferson City; one sister, Pauline Brunnert of Argyle; nephews; nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
