Obituary

Leona Mae Vineyard, age 85, of Dixon, was born April 5, 1936, at Dixon, a daughter of Clarence William and Mabel Irene (Whitaker) McKinnon, and passed from this life Friday, October 8, 2021, in Dixon Nursing and Rehab.

She was united in marriage August 27, 1952, at Dixon, to Harold Gene Vineyard.

Leona accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and followed her Lord in baptism at First Baptist Church, Dixon, where she was a member at the time of her passing.  During her working life, Leona was a devoted housewife and homemaker to her husband and family and was always a person diligent in providing for the needs of her family and friends.  In addition to loving to work puzzle books, Leona enjoyed watching game shows on television, playing Bingo, and having her nails done.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Vineyard include:  Her husband of sixty-nine years, Harold Gene Vineyard, of their home near Dixon; her children, Lois Mae Vineyard of Dixon, Deloris June Vineyard of Jefferson City, Jesse Clarence " J.C."  Vineyard of Hallsville, Pamela Sue Vineyard of Newburg, and Marsha Doyle and husband, Duane, of Dixon; nine grandchildren with greats and great-greats as well; one sister, Annabelle Deardeuff, of Crocker; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Gene Vineyard, on December 13, 2008; her father, Clarence, on December 24, 1999; her mother, Mabel, on September 12, 2001; one sister, Wilma Lee Clark, on March 10, 2019; and two brothers-in-law, Ira Anderson Deardeuff on December 31, 2007, and Raymond Frank Clark on January 14, 2016.

Visitation for Mrs. Leona Vineyard will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, MO 65459, with her funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jack Caple, First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment will be in Williams Cemetery, near Dixon, in Maries County, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.  Pallbearers for Mrs. Vineyard will be Duane Doyle, Dylan Doyle, Joshua Vineyard, Joshua Vineyard, Jr., Dalton Forester, and Hunter Gash.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Leona Vineyard are suggested by her family to the Williams Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, MO 65459.
