Obituary

Leroy James Crabtree, of Iberia, was born on March 9, 1927, at St. Louis, a son of Lee James and Minnie Ethel (Thompson) Crabtree, and departed this life, on Monday, November 11, 2013, at his residence near Iberia. Mr. Crabtree had attained the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

Mr. Crabtree was united in marriage on November 24, 1945, at St. Louis, to the former Miss Dorothy Mae Hale, and to this union, three children were born. Mrs. Crabtree preceded him in death on March 29, 1989. He was later united in marriage to Donna Lee Jack. In addition to his first wife Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Julie Crabtree; and two half-brothers, Ed Crabtree and James Lee Crabtree.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Iberia, was a member of St. Louis Masonic Lodge No. 49 A.F. & A.M, and was a World War II Veteran serving his county in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Crabtree was a tool and die maker as well as being a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Crabtree include: His wife, Donna Crabtree of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Josephine Crabtree, Seattle, Washington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Rusty Morgan, Palm Bay, Florida; and Nancy and Raymond Massie, Penrose, Colorado; one half-sister, Eunice Allen, Glasgow, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Crabtree at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday morning, November 14, 2013, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Charles LaChance, First Baptist Church, Iberia, officiating.

Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Crabtree were Christopher Morgan, Timothy Morgan, Patrick Morgan, Beau Crabtree, Rusty Morgan, and Raymond Massie.
