LeRoy Bernard Hertzing, of Vienna, was born on May 12, 1939, at Freeburg, a son of John Joseph and Cunigunda "Cunie" Johanna (Hoffman) Herzing, and departed this life at 11:43 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his residence near Vienna. LeRoy had attained the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 26 days.
LeRoy was united in marriage on May 18, 1974, at Vienna, to Sharon Kay Breeding, and to this union, one son was born. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter at age 7 weeks, Elizabeth Rose Hertzing on September 27, 1999; his father on April 28, 1965; his mother on December 16, 1990; and one sister, Lorraine Elizabeth Herzing on November 1, 1979.
LeRoy was of the Catholic faith and former member and assistant chief of the Freeburg Fire Department. He had worked for Beck Motors in Freeburg, as a mechanic, for over 40 years. LeRoy enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to mourn the passing of LeRoy include: his wife, Sharon Hertzing, Vienna; one son, Bradley Joe Hertzing, Vienna; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ray and Betty Herzing, Jefferson City and Daniel Herzing, Vienna; two sisters and one brother-in-law, LaVerne Russell, Argyle and Delores and Dave Martin, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Rebecca Hertzing, Samantha Hertzing and Kody Hertzing; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for LeRoy at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 12, 2014, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Pastor Lindell Patterson, Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna, officiating.
Interment was in the Breeding Cemetery, near Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for LeRoy were Mark Honse, Chad Russell, Travis Holterman, Jim Wakeland, Steve Miller and Joe Breeding. Honorary pallbearers were Tina Dake, Becca Hertzing, Samantha Hertzing, Kody Hertzing, Jason Roberson, Justin Roberson, Joe Clay Crum, Scott Dake, and Fritz Wieberg.
