Obituary

Leslie Tim Tackett, age 85, of Vienna, was born September 28, 1936, at Vienna, a son of William Timothy and Viola Eliza (Honse) Hopkins Tackett, and passed from this life Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage June 1, 1963, in First Baptist Church, Vienna, to the former Miss Vickie Cheryl Terry.

Leslie was a United States Army veteran and served until he was honorably discharged November 30, 1965, at the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5).

He accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized, and at the time of his passing, was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna.  Leslie was also a member of Local 513 Operating Engineers, St. Louis.  During his working life, Les was employed as a general foreman, supervisor, and heavy equipment operator for forty-five years prior to his retirement in 1998.  He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, fishing, hunting, traveling, and being with family, especially his great-grandkids, Josie and Weston.

Those left to celebrate the life of Mr. Leslie Tackett include:  His devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Vickie Tackett, of their home near Vienna; his daughter, Terra Trenner, of Vienna; his two grandsons, Trevor Smith (Kayla) and Laine Smith (Olivia), all of Vienna; his two great-grandchildren, Josie Smith and Weston Smith; two sisters, Evelyn Moser of Eureka and Donna Backues of Vienna; three sisters-in-law, Pat Tackett of Salem, and Joyce Honse and Phyllis Christensen of Vienna; nephews; nieces; other relatives; and a host of friends.

Leslie was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jason Trenner; his parents, Tim and Viola Tackett; siblings and spouses, Gayle Tackett, and Darlene French (Milford); brothers-in-law, Bob Moser, Danny Backues, Edwin Honse, and Richard Christensen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Genevieve Terry; his half-siblings and spouses, Mae Rudroff (Joe), Fern Clark (Rudy), Alma James (Travis), and Wayne Hopkins (Carol); and one nephew, William Douglas McKinney.

Visitation for Mr. Leslie Tackett will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022, in First Baptist Church, 1004 Highway 63, Vienna, MO 65582, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Chris Slocum officiating.

Military honors will follow the service just outside the church on the south side.  Immediately following the honors ceremony, the Tackett family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them in the Baptist Hall located on the lower level of the church.

Private family inurnment will be in the Felkerson Cemetery near Vienna.  Honorary pallbearers for Leslie will be Trevor Smith, Laine Smith, Jake Hallahan, Jeff Stricklan, Tim Backues, Rob Grosvenor, Dave Swarthout, Mitch Terry, Vern Hutchison, and Brent Christensen.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Leslie Tackett are suggested by his family to the Backpack Ministry of Vienna First Baptist Church or to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, Bridgeton, MO, with envelopes available at the church the day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O.
