Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, near Rolla, and had been baptized early in life. She was an accountant, bookkeeper and did taxes at Hochschild, Bloom, and Dardick in Washington, Missouri, for twenty-five years then continuing to work before retiring in 1990.
Her husband, Warren, told her that he had retired and was leaving for Florida and she could stay and work or go with him which she did. Lillian went with him, but when they came back after wintering in Florida, she would go back to work in the summer months which she did for several years. She and her husband traveled and enjoyed being together until they got tired of moving around and finally settled on Warren's sister's farm at Willard.
They enjoyed living next door to Paul and Katherine Sloan for over twenty years and helping with some of the farm chores. Lillian even got used to petting a horse and feeding it Watermelon rinds. After the loss of her husband, she moved to Rolla to be closer to her daughters, grandchildren, and the family dog, Sugar. Lillian enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery work, cooking, and being with family and would light up when the babies would come over to see her.
