Obituary

Linda Jo Creamer, of Willard, formerly of Dixon, was born on June 15, 1946, at Dixon, the daughter of Marvin Woodrow and Lydia Lillian (Dodds) Creamer, and departed this life at 12:55 p.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013, near Sedan, Kansas, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Linda had attained the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 9 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother, Benjamin Creamer; and three uncles and one aunt, William Creamer and wife, Vivian, Rockford Creamer and Harold Carroll.

Linda was an active member of the Willard United Methodist Church, Willard, where she had served as a lay leader as well as many other positions in the church. She was a 1964 graduate of Dixon R-1 High School and continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University (now known as Missouri State University), Springfield, where she received her teachers certificate. Her first employment was as a librarian in the Gainesville school system and later as a librarian at Willard High School retiring after 40 years of teaching. Linda was still active in the education of students as a substitute teacher until her passing. She enjoyed reading and traveling and had visited 46 of the 50 states. She was a loving aunt and enjoyed taking care of her nephews and nieces.

Those left to mourn the passing of Linda include: One brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Creamer, Willington, Kansas; two aunts, Ruby Carroll and Charsie Creamer, both of Dixon; seven nephews; five nieces; nineteen great-nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted for Linda at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Dr. Jack D. Montgomery, officiating. A memorial service will be held at the Willard United Methodist Church, 304 Farmer Road, Willard, at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 3, 2014.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2013, and 10 – 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes

Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery, Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
