Linda Amelia Hood, of rural Dixon, was born on May 30, 1952, at Jefferson City, in Cole County, Missouri. The only daughter of William Robert and Mary Amelia (Williams) Call, Sr., and departed this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at her residence. She had attained the age of 67 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
Linda was united in marriage on October 26, 1974, to Michael Arthur Hood at Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Eugene, whom survives at home. To this marriage born were three children Michele, Sarah and Ryan. Her and Michael often opened their home to many children including those in foster care and adopting one daughter Nora.
She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and followed Him in baptism. At the time of her passing, Linda was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Vienna, where she especially enjoyed working in the Kids Club program of the church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening but MOST of all spoiling her grandchildren.
Linda attended Cole R-V in Eugene during her school years graduating in 1970. She then followed her dream of becoming a nurse attending Jefferson City School of Practical Nursing graduating as LPN in 1971. During her career, Linda had been employed at Capital Region Medical Center formerly known as Charles E. Still Osteopathic Hospital, Jefferson City, in 1972, and retiring in 2013 after forty-one years.
Survivors include: Her children, Michele Vogt of Rural Dixon, Sarah Lehmen and husband, Andy, of Osage Bend, Ryan Hood and wife, Teresea, of Stover, and Nora Moss and husband, Roger, of Versailles; her grandchildren, Nathanael Pippin, Clayton Pippin, Anna Lehmen, Matthew Lehmen, Jason Fields and fiancée, Hannah, Jordan Fields and fiancée, Summer, Logan Hood, Shelby Hood, Robert Hood, April Hood, Zachary Moss, Jacob Moss, and Lilly Moss; one great-grandchild, Myra Mae Fields, and another great granddaughter to arrive in August; six brothers, William "Bill" Call, Jr. and wife, Trellis, of Jefferson City, Jim Call and wife, Karen, of Jefferson City, Ron Call and wife, Sandy, of Eugene, David Call and wife, Sharon, of Pryor, Oklahoma, Mike Call and wife, Doris, of Henley, and Chuck Call and wife, Janice, of Eugene; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Libbert and husband, Kevin, of Honey Creek; nephews, nieces, with greats as well; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William; her mother, Mary Amelia, and three brothers, Tommy Call, Raymond Call, and Richard "Dick" Call and a number of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held for immediate family at 2 pm with a prayer service for all beginning at 3 p.m. with visitation concluding at 6 p.m., on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes in VIenna, Missouri. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with services being conducted at 10 am on Monday, March 9, 2020, at the First Baptist Church, Vienna, Missouri, with the Rev. Chris Slocum officiating, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2020, in the Hickory Hill Cemetery, Eugene, Missouri 65032, by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
Pallbearers will be Jared Call, Jason Fields, Jordan Fields, Clayton Pippin, Logan Hood, Matthew Lehmen, and her honorary pallbearers will be Anna Lehmen, Shelby Hood, Robert Hood, April Hood, Watson Call and Myra Mae Fields.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Hickory Hill Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or to the Hospice Compassus Osage Beach, 5780 Osage Beach Parkway, Suite 230, Osage Beach, Missouri 65065, with envelopes available at the church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582l.
