Lloyd Wayne Shanks, of Vienna, was born on January 31, 1942, at Paydown, in Maries County, Missouri, a son of Herman Andrew and Opal Louellen (Gillispie) Shanks, and departed this life at 5:07 P.M., on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.  Lloyd had attained the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

Lloyd was united in marriage on June 8, 1963, in the James Community Church, near Vienna, to the former Miss Frances Arlene Bassett, and to this union, four children were born.

He was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, near Vienna, and a lifelong dairy and crop farmer in Maries County.

Those left to mourn the passing of Lloyd include:  His wife , Arlene Shanks, of the home near Vienna; his children, Darrell Shanks (Phyllis), Vienna, Mark Shanks (Karen), Vienna, Terry Shanks (Donna), Newburg, and Crystal Wagner (Shawn), Vienna; ten grandchildren, Darren Shanks (Anna), Lorrie Bright (John), Dylan Sickler, Justin Shanks, Emily Shanks, Hannah Shanks, Lily Wagner, Ella Wagner, Zane Wagner, and Cora Wagner; his siblings, Beulah Purdham and Delbert Shanks (Pat), both of Vienna; and sister-in-law, Naomi Shanks, Vienna; and other relatives and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Blake Joseph Wagner on October 16, 2011, and  Dannah Raye Sickler on October 15, 1997; his father, Herman, on August 10, 1991; his mother, Opal, on July 23, 2003; one brother, Leonard Leslie Shanks, on July 4, 2010; brother-in-law, Robert Purdham on August 7, 2000;  nephew, Dale Shanks on August 5, 2016; and father-in-law, Wayne Bassett on September 6, 1988; and mother-in-law, Opal Bassett on June 15, 2004.

Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery, near Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pallbearers for Lloyd will be Darrell Shanks, Mark Shanks, Terry Shanks, Shawn Wagner, Darren Shanks, Justin Shanks, John Bright, and Dewaye Shanks, and honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren:  Lorrie, Emily, Hannah, Lily, Anna, Dylan, Zane, Ella, and Cora.
