Lou Fern Warnol, of St. Louis, formerly of Dixon and Farmington, was born on October 12, 1918, at Leadwood, in St. Francois County, Missouri, a daughter Azro Bert and Lucinda Belle Elizabeth (Fanger) Hughes, and departed this life at 1:20 p.m., on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Bethesda South Gate, St. Louis. Mrs. Warnol had attained the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 29 days.
Mrs. Warnol was united in marriage on October 14, 1939, at Dixon, to Cecil Louis Warnol, and to this union, two daughters were born. Mr. Warnol was born on March 14, 1915, at Franks Swith, in Pulaski County, Missouri, a son of Thomas Marion and Mary Margaret (Shackelford) Warnol, and preceded his wife in death on January 19, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and seven sisters: Grace Hughes at age two, Mabel Dillow, George Hughes, Clara Whithworth, Lena Graves, Pearl Warnol, Jerry Hughes, Arthur Hughes, Alfred Beryl Hughes, Charles Hughes, Mildred Parker, and Delores Romero.
Mrs. Warnol had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and had followed her Lord in baptism, and while living in the St. Louis area, she and her husband had attended the Southwest Baptist Church; and while living in Dixon, they had attended the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Warnol had been a member of the Farmington Chapter No. 430, Order of the Eastern Star, in Farmington, for over fifty years. In addition to being a devoted housewife and homemaker, she had also been employed for fifteen years as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Heck's IGA Grocery Store in Farmington, prior to her retirement in 1977. Mrs. Warnol had been an avid bowler and was on a bowling team for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Warnol had been members of the Dixon Senior Citizens Center and had participated in the center's bowling activities.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Warnol include: Two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Bill Schlueter, Fairview Heights, Illinois; and Elaine and Ronald Ruppel, Austin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Ruth Hughes, Farmington; five grandchildren, Jennifer Poulson and husband, Kent; Terri Ann Gore and husband, Tim; Pamela Sawatzky and husband, Kevin; Michael Schlueter; and Craig Ruppel and wife, Corrie; thirteen Great-Grandchildren, Trevor, Carter, Riley, Morgan, and Sawyer Poulson; Alexander and Kaitlynn Gore; Paige, Taylor, and Brooke Sawatzky; Raegan Schlueter; and Ashley and Haley Ruppel; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Warnol will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2014, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with Bro. Rocky Carroll, First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. Musical selections for the service were "It Is Well with My Soul", "He Touched Me", and "How Great Thou Art".
Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Warnol were Michael Schlueter, Craig Ruppel, Kent Poulson, Tim Gore, Kevin Sawatzky, and Trevor Poulson. Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Hughes, Ruth Hughes, Ron Ruppel, Bill Schlueter, Eddie Warnol, and Wayne Warnol.
Memorials are suggested to the Lily Lane Floor of Bethesda Southgate with envelopes available at the Dixon Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
