Lucille Bernadine Welschmeyer, age 82, of Freeburg, was born on December 18, 1943, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Louis and Catherine (Suthoff) Hoelscher and passed from this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the SSM St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City.
Mrs. Welschmeyer was united in marriage on August 29,1964 in Osage Bend to Mr. Richard Welschmeyer and to this union, two daughters were born. Lucille was preceded in death by her father, Louis Hoelscher; her mother, Catherine (Suthoff) Hoelscher; five siblings, Sister Rose Virginia Hoelscher, Clarence Hoelscher, Catherine Bruemmer, and infants Andrew and Bernard Hoelscher; and two infant grandsons, Isaac Pondrom and Jax Johnson.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, as well as the Quilting Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, all of Freeburg. Lucille enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time making precious memories with her family.
During her working life she was employed by the State of Missouri Division of Employment Security as an Appeals Clerk all while being a devoted housewife and mother.
Those left to mourn the passing of Lucille include: her husband, of 62 years, Richard; her children; Linda Johnson (Eric) Visalia, California, and Ann Pondrom (Aaron) Dixon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Isabella Pondrom, Sevee Johnson, Rhett Johnson, Carter Pondrom, Cort Johnson, and Sophia Johnson; one brother, Irvin Hoelscher, Jefferson City; one sister, Dorothy Veit, Jefferson City; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday October 4, 2026, with a Prayer Service following and on Monday October 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Rev. William Debo celebrating.
Inurnment for Mrs. Lucille Welschneyer will be held in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg. All will be under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to Holy Family Quilting Club or Holy Family Catholic School Expansion Fund with envelopes available at the church on the day of her service or c/o the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
