Obituary

Lucille Mary Libbert, of Laurie, was born on September 29, 1932, at Argyle, a daughter of Henry Vincent and Elizabeth Mary (Redel) Deeken, and departed this life at 1:01 p.m., on Monday, December 7, 2020, in The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place, Columbia.  She had attained the age of 88 years, 2 months, and 9 days.

Mrs. Libbert was united in marriage on May 9, 1951, at Meta, to Arthur John Libbert, and to this union, four children were born.  Lucille and Arthur moved off the family farm near Koeltztown to Sedalia in 1964, where she worked at Mallory's Bakery, and was a wonderful cake decorator, for 15 years. In her younger years, she enjoyed water skiing, and later, when Lucille moved to Laurie (near Lake of the Ozarks), she enjoyed tending to her flowers, feeding the birds, making wonderful sugar cookies, homemade bread, sewing, and making beautiful quilts. Lucille and Arthur enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their little motor home.  Mrs. Libbert was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a member of the Mary's Garden Club, and a charter member of the Draggin Thread Quilters Club, all in Laurie.

Those left to mourn the passing of Lucille include: Her four children, Evelyn E. Jorgenson and husband, Chuck, of Rogers, Arkansas; Ruth Palasi' and husband, Jose, of Meta; Roger Libbert and wife, Colleen, of Sedalia; and Dale Libbert of Versailles; four grandchildren, Jennifer Culp and husband, Brian, of Fremont, California; Charlie Jorgenson and wife, Beth, of Phoenix, Arizona; Kevin Ditzfeld and wife, Jennifer, of Sedalia; and Andy Ditzfeld of Jefferson City; two step-grandchildren, Jessie Young of Sedalia; and Nicolas Palasi' and companion, Patrice, of Mesa, Arizona; six great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Savannah, Brooklyn, Everly, Waylon, and Nya; two brothers, Harold Deeken and wife, Joan, of Meta; and David Deeken of Jefferson City; nephews, nieces, with greats, and great-greats as well; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on February 2, 2003; her father, Henry, on August 17, 1996; her mother, Elizabeth, on July 11, 1984; two sisters, Leona Busche on February 17, 2018, and Frances Falter on September 2, 2018; six brothers, John Deeken on November 9, 2016; Clemens "Pat" Deeken on January 27, 1969; Charles Deeken on December 6, 1999; Henry Deeken, Jr. on July 9, 1968; and two infants, Anthony Deeken on November 20, 1938; and Joseph Deeken on May 17, 1942.

All attending the visitation and funeral Mass for Mrs. Libbert are required to wear personal masks or other personal protective equipment, follow social distancing and close contact guidelines, and adhere to COVID-19 protocol.

Visitation will be held for Mrs. Lucille Mary Libbert from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 11, 2020, in the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 109 East Sixth Street, Meta, Missouri  65058, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Leonard Mukiibi as the celebrant under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment will be next to her beloved husband, Arthur, in the St. Cecilia Cemetery, Meta, by Birmingham-Martin, Vienna.  Pallbearers for Mrs. Libbert will be Kenny Deeken, Rick Busche, Leon Deeken, Andy Mengwasser, Charlie Wieberg, and Donnie Schwartze; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Culp, Charlie Jorgenson, Kevin Ditzfeld, Andy Ditzfeld, Jessie Young and Nicolas Palasi, serving as her honorary pallbearers.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Lucille Mary Libbert are suggested by her family to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, with envelopes available at the church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
