Edythe Lynn Gilbert, of Dixon, was born on July 1, 1948, at Gary, Indiana, and departed this life at 12:27 p.m., on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at her residence. Lynn had attained the age of 68 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

She was united in marriage on July 21, 1967, at Dixon, to Ralph Everett Gilbert, who died on July 1, 1999. One daughter, Evelyn, was born to this union.

All her life, Lynn was the life of the party and was a 1966 graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School. She enjoyed choir and drama all through school and continued to sing in church as well as loving to dance and never backing down from a challenge. During her working life, Lynn was employed at the Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, and later was employed as a Housekeeping Manager at numerous hotels in Rolla prior to her retirement. For many years, Lynn was an avid gardener and loved to be outside interacting with wildlife.

She had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and had followed her Lord in baptism early in life. Lynn was a member of the Victory Hill Baptist Church, and as long as her health allowed, continued to participate in church activities such as the Women's Ministry and being an avid supporter of the Youth Ministry, being quite the kid herself. Attending nearly every gospel singing, she loved to spend time with her family and proudly enjoyed her status as "GiGi" – great-grandma to five babies in four years.

Foremost, Lynn will leave her legacy to include an undying love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. She gave her family a love for music – Old Hymns, Motown, and 50's/60's Shoo Bop, while at the same time, teaching her family to appreciate the Oldies Music, Black and White Movies, Westerns, Disney, Elvis, Shirley Temple Movies, and Rogers and Hammerstein Musicals. Lynn taught her family that even though physical limitations may try to keep you from doing what you want, you must always try as hard as you can to keep going, especially when people say you can't.

Those left to mourn the passing of Lynn include: Her daughter, Evelyn Burton, and her husband, Richard, of Dixon; her siblings, Denise Devereaux, of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Guy Dean Morales and wife, Tammy, of Paxton, Illinois; her special friend, Tony Chambers, of Dixon; her five grandchildren, Del, Tawney, Drew, Kelsey, and Sam; her five great-grandchildren, Tommy, Nicholas, Olivia, Colton, and Raelynn; many other relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Del Morales, on October 15, 2011; her mother, Martha Jeanne (Vaught) Morales, on July 25, 1995; one sister, Tanya Lee Rivera, on October 30, 1995; and one grandson, Ian Hunter Gilbert, on March 2, 2014.
