Margaret Mary “Margie” Otto, age 94, of Argyle, was born July 5, 1932, a daughter of Ben Francis and Teresa Lucy (Brandel) Bauer, and passed from this life on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at StoneBridge, Westphalia, surrounded by her loving family.
Margie was united in marriage on August 11, 1951, at Argyle, to Urban Fred Otto, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2011. In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, Margie was preceded in death by one son, Jerome Otto; her father, Ben Bauer; her mother, Teresa Bauer; her stepmother, Sophie (Mozelewski) Kwiatkowski Bauer; her son-in-law, Don Hall; and one granddaughter, Danielle Mahloch.
She was a devout Christian and was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown. Margie was a member of the Auxiliary of Argyle VFW Post No. 8045 and served as the chaplain for many years, a member of Relay for Life and March of Dimes. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, baking, cooking, of which many people enjoyed her fried chicken at her son Jeff’s restaurant in Argyle, and spending time and making precious memories with her family.
During her working life, Margie was a childcare provider in her home for 30 years, cooked at school in Argyle for five years, then went to cook at Fatima, Westphalia for three years, worked for Mr. Jacks, Freeburg for two years, and worked for the Retirement Center for three years, all while being a devoted housewife and mother.
Those left to mourn the passing of Margie include: her children; Venny Groene (Jerry) of Koeltztown; Linda Hall of Wichita, Kansas; Joseph Otto (Nyla) of Jefferson City; John Otto (friend, Janice) of Jefferson City; Jim Otto (Kathy) of Argyle; Jeffery Otto (Michel) of Argyle; and Denise Mahloch (Dan) of Raymond, Nebraska; one daughter-in-law, Denice Otto of Argyle; 15 grandchildren, Jason Groene (Amy), Amy Hassler (Rick), Derek Groene (Renee), Travis Massman (Casey), Tyler Long (Kas), Ethan Otto (Whitney), Ali Otto, Abby Otto (friend, Camren), Scott Otto (Brittany), Dustin Otto (Jerica), Cameron Otto (Carissa), Ethan Klingele (Whitney), Dakota Klingele (Sarah), Shay Connely (John), and Olivia Mahloch; 25 great-grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, Michael, Ava, Ella, Kenley, Benton, Avery, Jacob, Maverick, Saylor, Braelyn, Clyde, Mayven, Brantley, Nolan, Nevaeh, Forrest, Casen, Larson, Zaden, Oaklynn, Eliza, TeJzha, and Miyé; one grand-dog, Coco; and many other relatives and friends.
A Prayer Service and Rosary for Mrs. Margie Otto will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., with a visitation following from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., all in the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, with Rev. Basil Tigga celebrant and Deacon Michael Brooks co-celebrant.
Interment for Mrs. Margie Otto will be held in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Koeltztown. Pallbearers will be Jason Groene, Derek Groene, Travis Massman, Tyler Long, Scott Otto, Dustin Otto, and Cameron Otto. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Otto, Ethan Klingele, and Dakota Klingele. All will be under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family for Masses with envelopes available at the church on the day of his service or c/o the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
