Marie Margaret Kern, age 93 of Freeburg, was born on July 29, 1931, at Freeburg a daughter of Joseph Leo and Adeline Mary (Bauer) Kern and departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2025 in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.

Marie was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and had served, along with others, as a Sacristan for the parish for many years. During her working life, she had been employed by the International Shoe Company, Jefferson City, Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg and in 1973, she went to work for ABB Corporation in Jefferson City as an Accessory Assembler until her retirement in 1996.

Those left to mourn the passing of Marie include: cousins and best friends, Mike and Suzanne Bauer, and Mildred Bauer, all of Freeburg; Mike and Suzanne's daughters and grandchildren, Heather and Les Hutchison of Freeburg, Connie Bauer of Linn, Tracy and Michael Murphy of Ashland, and Jaclyn, Christina, Dallas, Ty, Ellie and Sawyer; and other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her father, Joseph on August 29, 1993; her mother, Adeline on April 29, 1966; two brothers, an infant in 1934 and Richard Kern on January 5, 2017; her cousin, Barbara Bauer on June 29, 2019 and her beloved German Shepherd Dog, Hannah.

Visitation will be held for Marie from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass at 11 a.m., all on Thursday, February 6, 2025 in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO  65035, with the Rev. William D. Debo as the Celebrant.

Interment will be next to her beloved family in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
