Mark Rafael Duffin, of Pacific, formerly of Vienna, was born on July 19, 1951, in Yonkers, New York, the son of Henry Michael and Virginia (Sages) Duffin. He departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, having attained the age of 67 years and 13 days.
Mark was united in marriage on June 5, 2001, to Beverley Jane (Geldbach) Haddox who preceded him in death on July 9, 2005. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father Henry, on November 2, 2010; and his mother, Virginia, on October 30, 2013.
He was raised in the Catholic faith. Mark moved to Vienna in 1977 to help his parents build their home on Highway 42. After graduating from the police academy, Mark became a deputy in Vienna. He later moved to Pacific and joined the Carpenters Union Local 1839, working in construction in the St. Louis area, as well as on the Callaway Nuclear Plant, prior to his retirement. Mark loved working on cars and motorcycles, was a gun collector; enjoyed classic movies, was a history buff; and loved being outside, riding his Harley. Mark was also a twenty-year liver transplant survivor.
Mark was a loving husband and son. He cared for his wife throughout a long illness before her passing. Later, he took time away from himself to travel back and forth from Pacific to Vienna to care for both his parents. He was always taking in and caring for those in need.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mark include: His siblings, Woody Duffin and wife, Nadine, Peyton, Colorado; Brian Duffin and wife, Wanda, Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Deidre McGuigan, and husband, Terry, Poughkeepsie, New York; Craig Duffin and wife, Theresa, Berthoud, Colorado; and Danae Stuertz and husband, Tim, St. Charles, Missouri; nephews and nieces, Kyle, Mackenzie and husband, Eric, Tim, Sean and wife, Sharon, Evan, Tom, Olivia, and Elise; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 16, 2019, in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Vienna, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65459.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's in memory of Mark, in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
