Mary Rhonda Holman, age 86, of New Bloomfield, formerly of Dixon, was born March 4, 1937, at Liberty, Texas, the daughter of Hess Warren and Helen Ruth (Light) Goforth, and passed from this life Sunday, September 24, 2023, at her residence in New Bloomfield.
She was united in marriage May 30, 1959, at Dixon, to Lonnie Richard Holman, and to this union, four children were born.
Rhonda was a 1955 graduate of Dixon High School and while in school, she was selected to attend Missouri Girls State. Rhonda loved doing crafts, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Dixon United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the UMW (United Methodist Women) and had been a Youth Leader. After moving, Rhonda attended the Christian Church in New Bloomfield.
During her working life, Rhonda was employed by Goforth Uregas and Appliances, Town and Country and IGA grocery stores, secretary to the principal at Dixon school, and as a fulltime childcare provider, all in Dixon, until her retirement.
Those left to celebrate the life of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Rhonda Holman, include: One son, Rev. Todd Holman, of Cuba; two daughters, Wendy Miller and husband, David, of Iberia, and Faith Baxter and husband, Mark, of New Bloomfield; one brother, Wesley Goforth, and wife, Kathy, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Goforth, of Waynesville and Sandra Patton, of Vienna; ten grandchildren, Jeremy Jones (Casi), Joshua Jones (Tara), Caleb Holman (Haylee), Mariah Backes (Pat), Lindsey Mincks (Tal), Kate Baxter, John Baxter, Abby Baxter, Ezra Holman, and Eliza Holman; twelve great-grandchildren, Wesley, Braiden, Aubree, Bennett, Aubree, Rylie Jo, Titus, Jackson, Sally, Liam, Makayla, and Joelle; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Holman, on September 2, 2002; one daughter, Mary Kay Lilly, on March 30, 2019; her father, Hess Goforth, on November 26, 1985; her mother, Helen Goforth, on June 11, 2003; and one brother, Warren Goforth, on April 29, 2023.
Visitation for Mrs. Rhonda Holman will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, in the Dixon United Methodist Church, 312 West Second Street, Dixon, MO 65459, with her Celebration of Life service following at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Rev. Tony Townley and Rev. Mitchel Henson officiating under the direction of
Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
The inurnment for Mrs. Rhonda Holman will be next to her husband and parents in the Dixon Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Holman will be Wesley Goforth, David Miller, Mark Baxter, Pat Backes, Susan Hank, Rob Goforth, Scottie Goforth, William Donaldson, Jeremy Jones, Joshua Jones, Caleb Holman, Mariah Backes, Lindsey Mincks, Kate Baxter, John Baxter, Abby Baxter, Ezra Holman, and Eliza Holman.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Rhonda Holman are suggested by her family to The ALS Association (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrigs's Disease which caused the death of Rhonda's daughter, Mary Kay) 1300 Wilson Boulevard Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209. Also, envelopes will be available at church the day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, MO 65459.
