Mary Jane Holterman, of Freeburg, was born on October 19, 1935, at Freeburg, a daughter of Peter Henry and Anna Marie (Haller) Reichel, and departed this life at 2:53 p.m., on Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, surrounded by her family. After suffering a stroke, Mrs. Holterman had been a resident at Westphalia Hills for the past several years and had attained the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Mrs. Holterman was united in marriage on September 3, 1955, at Freeburg, to Cletus Fred Holterman, and to this union, one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus, on December 17, 2004; her father, Peter, on October 24, 1980; her mother, Anna, on July 29, 2004; and her brother, Lonnie John Reichel, on March 8, 2008.
Mrs. Holterman was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg where she had been a dilignet worker in the various ministries of the church. For most of her working life, she had been employed by the Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, for 43 years retiring in 1998. Mrs. Holterman had been a devoted housewife and homemaker and was a shining example of providing for the needs of her family and friends. Activities she especially enjoyed were cooking, taking care of others, embroidery work, and visiting with friends.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Holterman include: Her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Carl Sandbothe, of Vienna; four sisters, Mildred Dudenhoeffer and Jean Berhorst, both of Freeburg, and Rita Jones and Sandra Smith, both of Jefferson City; nephews; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Holterman at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 12, 2016, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, with the Rev. Bill Debo as the Celebrant.
Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery in Freeburg next to her beloved husband, Cletus, of over 49 years under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.
