Mildred Louise Hayes, of Dixon, was born on October 12, 1926, at Dixon, a daughter of John Henry and Sarah Penelope "Neppie" (Graham) Dodds, and departed this life at 11:04 p.m., on Sunday, February 19, 2017, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Center in Dixon. Mrs. Hayes had attained the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
Mrs. Hayes was united in marriage on September 11, 1946, at Rolla, to Hursel Leon Hayes, who preceded his wife in death on May 30, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her father on August 23, 1970; her mother on May 10, 1964; three brothers, Benjamin Brice Dodds on January 15, 1987, Jesse Leonard Dodds on February 24, 2002, and Harold Louis Dodds in 2016; and three sisters, Jewel Bryant in 1995, Marilyn Rowden on May 31, 2007, and Lenna Mae Brown in 2015.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Kenner Church of God, near Dixon, and was baptized early in life. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, with her husband, attending church activities, and gardening.
During her working life, Mrs. Hayes had been employed by the State Bank of Dixon as a Teller for thirty plus years prior to her retirement as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Hayes include: One sister, Ethel Stewart, of Santa Cruz, California; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held for Mrs. Hayes from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in the Kenner Church of God, near Dixon, with a graveside service following in the Kenner Cemetery, with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.
