Mildred Elvira Lake, of Vienna, was born on December 8, 1939, at St. Louis, the daughter of Gentry and Flossie (Williams) Washburn, and departed this life at 1:19 a.m., on Tuesday morning, May 31, 2016, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mildred had attained the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
Mildred enjoyed living in Vienna and had moved there, after completing her working carreer, to live near her mother and step-father, Bill and Flossie James. She enjoyed visits from her immediate family when possible and always appreciated being a part of the James family as well. Mildred was a kind and considerate individual and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Faith in Jesus Christ was a big part of her life, and she sincerely appreciated the ministry of Rev. Kenneth and Sister Laveda Singleton and all the church family from the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Vienna.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mildred include: One son, Tom Lake and wife, Valarie, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one daughter, Deborah Lake, of Noble, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Ashley Jackson, Sacramento, California; two sisters, Ruby Davis Hawkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Mary James Ballard and husband, Mark, of St. Charles; one step-sister, Betty James Hardwick, of Jensen Beach, Florida; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Dewayne Willis, on October 31, 1997; one daughter, Tammy Renee Lake, on November 27, 2008; her father, Gentry; her mother, Flossie, on January 16, 2015; her step-father, William "Bill" James, on February 13, 1993; and three maternal aunts, Roni Jarboe, Johnnie Busbin, and Goldie Davis.
