Mildred Josephine Luetkemeyer, of Freeburg, was born November 16, 1927, at Freeburg, a daughter of Edward John and Marie Rose (Holtschneider) Schroeder, and departed this life at 3:10 a.m., on Monday, May 4, 2015, in Westphalia Hills. She had attained the age of 87 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
Mrs. Luetkemeyer was united in marriage on January 25, 1947, at Freeburg, to Edwin Gregory Luetkemeyer, and to this union, two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, on September 16, 1990; one son, Greg A. Luetkemeyer on May 14, 2012; her father, Edward, on October 16, 1982; her mother, Marie, on January 22, 1982; one brother, James E. Schroeder; and three sisters, Betty Schroeder, Rosalyn Struemph, and Jerri Uhl.
Mrs. Luetkemeyer was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church; the Holy Family Adult Church Choir; the Holy Family Ladies Quilting Club; and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Paul A. Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post No. 317, all in Freeburg. In April of 1958, she started in the window department of the Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, where she worked for eleven years, then in April of 1969, she became a teller/secretary for the Bank of Freeburg, until May 1990, working there for twenty-one years. Mrs. Luetkemeyer was also the financial secretary for the Western Catholic Union Branch No. 305 for thirty years; as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker that was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Luetkemeyer include: One son, Ken Luetkemeyer, Freeburg; one daughter-in-law, Marty Luetkemeyer, Shreveport, Louisiana; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Luetkemeyer at 11:00 a.m., on Friday morning, May 8, 2015, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Reid as the celebrant.
Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Luetkemeyer were Harry Struemph, Dave Struemph, Gary Struemph, Paul Luetkemeyer, Aaron Haller, and Dana Wildhaber
Masses or memorial contributions to the Holy Family School, Freeburg, are preferred by the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
