Muriel Lucille Bauer, of Freeburg, was born January 4, 1929, near Vienna, in Maries County, a daughter of Arthur Herman and Tina Lucindia (Bullock) Waidelich, and departed this life at 1:46 a.m. on Saturday, December, 6, 2014, in SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City. Mrs. Bauer had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 2 days.
Mrs. Bauer was united in marriage on February 5, 1949, at Freeburg, to Anthony Herman "Tony" Bauer, and to this union, four children were born. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Randall Dewayne "Randy" Bauer on June 7, 1993; her father on July 19, 1967; her mother on July 10, 1966; one brother, Ralph Estel Waidelich on October 27, 1978; three sisters, Madge Fern Moreland in 1994; Ruth Scott in 1985; and Ruby Waidelich in her youth.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality of the Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post No. 317, all of Freeburg. Mrs. Bauer was the secretary for the family United Farm Agency Real Estate business in Freeburg for thirty years, as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker, and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, home canning, playing cards, and watching the Cardinals Baseball games.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Bauer include: Her husband, Tony Bauer of the home in Freeburg; three sons, Dewayne Bauer (Robbie Luebbering), St. Thomas; Steven Bauer (Jane) Freeburg; and James Bauer (Carol) Vienna; one daughter, Renee Wolf (Dean), Westminister, Maryland; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Bauer at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas Reid, Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and the Rev. Ignazio C. Medina, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, concelebrating the Mass.
Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Bauer were Jeremy Bauer Wolf, Josh Bauer, Jason Bauer, Josh Hudson, John Bauer, and Joe Hudson.
