Thelma Nadine Asmus, of Dixon, Missouri, was born on November 5, 1935, near Hayden, Missouri, a daughter of Samuel Levi and Nora Edna (Bullock) Hayes, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her home. She had attained the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 1 day.
After graduating from Vienna High School, Nadine went to work at Fort Leonard Wood where she met and fell in love with Leo Asmus of Winside NE. They were united in marriage on April 26, 1958, and to this union, two daughters were born.
They moved to Iowa in 1963 where they farmed until moving back to Missouri in 1980. While in Iowa, Nadine was a homemaker and helped with the family farm. She was very involved in church and 4-H club activities. After moving back to Dixon, she worked in real estate with her brother, Stanley Hayes, and then for Walmart in Rolla for 17 years. Her hobbies throughout her life include reading, refinishing furniture, softball, horseshoe pitching and listening to country and gospel music.
Nadine accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and followed her Lord in baptism early in life. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Kenner Church of God near Dixon.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hursel Hayes, Harold Hayes, and Stanley Hayes; son-on-law, Terry Holtsclaw; three sister-in-laws, Mildred (Dodds)Hayes, Eunice (Robinson) Hayes, and Janice (Hull) Hayes; and one nephew, Michael Hayes.
Nadine will be greatly missed by her surviving family, which includes: her husband of 64 years, Leo Asmus, of the home in Dixon, MO; her daughters, Natalie Holtsclaw and Paula Wade (Rodney), Dixon, MO; her grandchildren, Will Holtsclaw (Emily), Bella Vista, AR, Joe Holtsclaw (Kelsey), Boonville, MO, Ashley Hammock (Eric), Newburg, MO, Emily Wade, Dixon, MO and Amy Wade, Dixon, MO; her great grandchildren, Avery Holtsclaw, Allie Holtsclaw, Cooper Holtsclaw, Wrenlee Holtsclaw, Brayden Hammock, Kynleigh Hammock, Levi Hammock and Kaydence Kluck; one brother, Jim Hayes, Rolla, MO; one sister-in-law, Lorene Hayes, Springfield, MO; and other family members and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Nadine Asmus will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2022, in Kenner Church of God, 17996 Maries Road 505, Dixon, MO 65459 with her funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Beverly Sharp officiating, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
Interment for Mrs. Nadine Asmus will be in Kenner Cemetery with Rodney Wade, Will Holtsclaw, Joe Holtsclaw, Eric Hammock, Brayden Hammock, and Jerry Allemann serving as her pallbearers.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Nadine Asmus are suggested by her family to the Kenner Church of God with envelopes available at church day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, MO 65459.
