Obituary

Nellie Agnes Rollins, of Dixon, was born July 19, 1920, in Maries County, a daughter of Garrett and Ferol (Sommers) Veasman, and departed this life at 5:32 p.m., on Sunday evening, July 6, 2014, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mrs. Rollins had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 18 days.

Mrs. Rollins was united in marriage on November 6, 1937, at Tuscumbia, to Thedora Allen Rollins, and to this union, three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 18, 1993; her parents; one brother, Marion Veasman; and one sister, Norma Elfert.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and followed him in baptism early in life. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, and had attended the New Salem Baptist Church, rural Dixon, for many years prior to moving to Dixon. Mrs. Rollins was retired from the Brown Shoe Factory, Dixon, and loved gardening, sewing and cooking. She was a devoted housewife, homemaker, and always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Rollins include: Three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Dixie Rollins, and Lonnie and Virginia Rollins, all of Dixon; and Jerry and Carolyn Rollins, Ashland; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Veasman, Lone Tree, Colorado; one sister-in-law, Fern Veasman, Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Rollins will be indeed sadly missed by her dear family and all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Rollins at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014, in the Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Charles Pentecost and the Rev. Dennis Nichols officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Rollins were Ronald A. Rollins, Jr., Donnie Rollins, Eddie Rollins, Jason Rollins, Derek Rollins, and Jerry Rollins.
