Norma Jean Bax, of Koeltztown, was born on August 11, 1942, at Jefferson City, a daughter of August Conrad and Hilda Mary (Bax) Bax, and departed this life at 6:22 a.m., on Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.  She had attained the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 1 day.

Norma Jean was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, and the Auxiliary of VFW Post 8045 and the Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council 2047, both in Argyle.  During her working life, she was first employed at International Shoe Company then at Missouri Department of Revenue followed by almost thirty years at Scholastic, all in Jefferson City, prior to her retirement in 2013.  Norma Jean excelled in cooking, frying chicken and making pies and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Elvis Presley music, and playing the lottery.  She had the opportunity of going to Las Vegas one time which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Those left to mourn the passing of Norma Jean include:  Her daughter, Jackie Bax, of Bonnots Mill; siblings, Carol Fisher (Charles), Argyle, and Daniel Bax, Wardsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bax Buschmann (Lawrence), Vienna; nephews:  Chris, Mike, Derek, and Joseph; nieces:  Myra, Melissa, Crystal, Nicole, Evelyn, and Sarah; great-nephews:  Dylan, John, Hunter, Conner, Mason, Luke, Brodie, Carter, and Brady; great-nieces:  Bethany, Erica, Emma, Hunter Lynn, Jenna, Malayna, Liberty, Annelae, and Isabella; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, August, on May 13, 1993; her mother, Hilda, on July 8, 1996; and siblings, Stanley Isadore "Fuzzy" Bax on February 10, 1999, Charles Bernard Bax on March 16, 2003, and Julian William Bax on June 8, 2010.

Visitation for Norma Jean Bax will be held in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 3974 Highway T, Koeltztown, MO 65048, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2019, with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m., and a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service at 6:30 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Norma Jean Bax will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in the St. Boniface Catholic Church, 3974 Highway T, Koeltztown, MO 65048, with the Rev. Greg Meystrik as the Celebrant, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
