Olivia Marie Luetkemeyer, of Jefferson City, formerly of Freeburg, was born on February 28, 1920, at Freeburg, a daughter of Dr. Charles Bernard and Pauline Christine (Veromoilen) Luetkemeyer, and departed this life at 2:30 a.m., on Saturday morning, October 19, 2013, in Heisinger Bluffs, Jefferson City. Olivia had attained the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
Olivia was preceded in death by her father on October 9, 1944; her mother on September 11, 1993; five brothers, Charles Bernard (Jack) Luetkemeyer, John (Father Alex) Luetkemeyer, Edwin Gregory Luetkemeyer, Dr. Ernest Ambrose Luetkemeyer, and Francis de Sales Henry Luetkemeyer; and two nephews, Charles Bernard Luetkemeyer III and Gregory Alan Luetkemeyer.
Olivia grew up in the Holy Family Parish, Freeburg, and following retirement and living in Jefferson City, she had attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as long as her health permitted. She especially enjoyed reading as one of her favorite activities.
A nursing school graduate with a degree in nursing, Olivia had been employed as a registered nurse during her working life. She first cared for children stricken with Polio in the St. Louis area; second, she cared for Native American infants on a reservation at Lawton, Oklahoma; and third, she cared for Native American children on a reservation at San Carlos, Arizona. Olivia was a professional and dedicated individual during her nursing career which was exemplified by her love and care of children for more than thirty years prior to her retirement in 1973 and moving back to Jefferson City.
Those left to mourn the passing of Olivia include: Seven sisters, Rosemary Corrigan, Jefferson City; Laurice (Sister Benita) Luetkemeyer, Clyde, Missouri; Arlene and Ralph Wildhaber, Argyle; Ann and Gunther Solomon, Sonoma, California; Marcella (Sister Bede) Luetkemeyer, Tucson, Arizona; Paula Ross, Novato, California; Sandy and Pat Haller, Freeburg; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
A Prayer Service was held for Olivia at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2013, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Reid leading.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Olivia at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning, October 23, 2013, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Reid celebrating. Nora Bock sang appropriate Catholic selections for the Mass and was accompanied by organist, Annette Poettgen.
Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Olivia were Tom Wildhaber, Dana Wildhaber, Chris Haller, Aaron Haller, Paul Luetkemeyer, and Kenny Luetkemeyer.
